ISO- Katrina Officer

ISO is the level of sensitivity of your camera to the available light. The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the camera's sensitivity to the light. The sensor on a camera gathers the light and transforms it into an image. The base ISO is usually 200. Manipulating ISO is helpful in capturing motion photography. If, for example, you want to take a picture of birds in flight, you can switch from ISO 100 (1 second) to ISO 800 (1/8 of a second). The higher sensor at ISO 800 allows the camera to fully capture a photograph. If you tried to take this picture at ISO 100, it would have ended up blurry because the birds are moving faster than the shutter speed. Low ISO is good to use when there is a lot of light and/or little motion.
